It’s not often that I post the entire line up from a graduate collection but I just love Steven Oo’s work as shown as part of the Academy of Arts show at New York fashion week 2010. Originating from Yangon, Myanmar he has just graduated from Fashion and Knitwear design. The collection is made up of merino wools and is inspired by the lines of Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas. He translated the curved shapes into textures and cut-out details in his garments by combining several hand and machine knitting techniques to create structure, weight, ribbing, and texture.

I’ve never used a machine before, I was a bit of a purist when it came to knitting but after seeing the options machines can give you, I wouldn’t mind giving it a go.

You should! you’ll wonder why you ever hand knitted things when its a million times faster on the machine
